Teacher Training Project
The proposed Teachers’ Training Project was planned to be carried out for the female school teachers in districts of Herat province in 2005 to 2006. The idea was to provide training to the existing batch of female teachers in terms of subject contents, teaching methodologies, child development, proper use of teaching aid material, classroom management and school administration. One Hundred (100) school teachers from several districts attended the workshops in Herat city. The project was planned for 8 calender years and it was funded by PRT/HRT. |

Woman's Legal and Social Protection
From the beginning of August 2007, VWO began implementing the Women Legal and Social program in Ghor and Badghis provinces. The project was funded by Christian Aid(CA) and the activities got implemented in Herat, Ghor and Badghis provinces. The project was aimed in to the following important objectives as, 1.To build a systematic networking and coordination among the stakeholders.2.To provide effective awareness sessions in the community at all levels.3. To assist and to reintegrate the women in care centers including women prison. |
Vocational Training Projects
This project was funded by ARD-LGCD .The project was implemented in Duliana district in Ghor province and Moqor district in Badghis province. The project provided facilities to women interested in carpet weaving, basic business and marketing training skills. The training took nine calendar months in two mentioned districts of Ghor & Badghis and around 75 women and girls participated in the program. Most of the beneficiaries raised their own business through carpet weaving in the era. |
Water Sanitation and Hygiene Education (WASH)
This project was implemented in two villages of three districts of Ghor province, which was funded by UNICEF since January 2008 for 13 months and 2 weeks. The WASH program team members transferred trainings, awareness sessions in several villages in Ghor province .Totally 12960 beneficiaries benefited from the programs in which around 75% of them were female.VWO renewed the contracts with the donors of the programs to target more needy villages in rural areas in the region. |
Self Immolation Prevention Campaign
This project was funded by Humanitarian International under supervision of family protection commission related to Herat provincial Shura. This program got started on 1st Feb 08 for 11 calendar months covering all districts of Herat province in two separate phases. The program targeted families, students, teachers, Shuras and other authorized members in the community as to deliver efficacious awareness for the act of self-immolation and its disastrous consequences .It was reported that totally around 50,000 people have been benefited from the campaign sessions in which 70% of them were female. |
Gender Based Violence Training
This project was funded by Oxfam-Novib through Afghan Women Network (AWN) in Herat province for a year in 2007.The project scope of work was consisting seminars, conference, workshops and exhibitions targeting members of community in various levels. The program enjoyed a good reputation among the beneficiaries and other stockholders so that, the project was extended till October 2008. |
Women's Tearooms
The Embassy of Finland, Kabul funded the construction of Five (5) Women's Tearooms. VWO established these tearooms in five strategic locations of Herat city. These facilities run exclusively by women for women. The tearooms are ongoing and the incomes directly go to the vulnerable women who work for the project. Through this project ?? are employed and opportunities are provided to earn their families. |
Silk Production
The project was funded by Christian Aid in 2007 and it was implemented in Zindejan district. A total number of 100 women were the direct beneficiaries of this project. The women were trained in silk production and making cloth from it. Now the women have a silk production corporation center, which produces different types of cloths and the production center has high demands in the current local market.
